Radiological and Economic Impact of Decommissioning Charged Particle Accelerators

چکیده

To evaluate the real radiological and economic consequences of future dismantling of particle accelerators, up to now insufficient information was available in literature or even at the individual accelerator facilities themselves. DG ENV/C3 of the European Commission launched a project with focus on gathering quantitative and scientifically sound data on the number of accelerators in the EU, on the status of activation of the different facilities, on the awareness of the possible problems at decommissioning and on cost evaluation of decommissioning these accelerators.
